Ażur na jesień

I love knitting. Duh. And I know I'm pretty good at it (oh, how modest of me). And yet there are days when I completely surprise myself with: I can't believe how great it turned out. I guess it's the combo of yarn, color and pattern. This is one of such cases. Another Estonian lace shawl, knitted with a pattern I used twice before. But it's the first time with mohair lace yarn. And I love it. I just do. I think I'm gonna make one for myself:)


Uwielbiam robić na drutach. Oczywista oczywistość:) I jestem w tym całkiem niezła (rzekła nieskromnie). Ale czasami zaskakuję sama siebie i coś wychodzi o wiele ładniejsze niż bym się spodziewała. To chyba wynika z zestawienia włóczki, wzoru i koloru. Oto takie właśnie zaskoczenie - kolejny szal wg wzoru estońskiego. Robiłam ten ażur już wcześniej, ale dopiero teraz sięgnęłam po włóczkę z moherem. I jestem zachwycona efektem. Do tego stopnia, że chyba zrobię taki szal dla siebie:)

Summer with yarn

Well, it's been a long time:) But I'm still here, the shop is still here, and I'm still knitting, although it seems a bit crazy in the summer. With all that yarns and all, right?

Dawno mnie tu nie było:) Ale jestem, sklep też jest, a ja wciąż produkuję nowości, chociaż latem wydaje się to nieco szalone. Bo przecież te wszystkie włóczki, prawda?

Not exactly. There are plenty of summer yarns out there.Cottons, fine silks and my recent favorite - bamboo.

Niezupełnie. Są przecież różne włóczki specjalnie na lato. Bawełny, cienkie jedwabie i - ostatnio moje ulubione - bambusy.

Shimmering red (just because it's too early for a "Merry Xmas" in the title;))

But that's what I call it - it is the "Merry Xmas shawl":) Not a complicated pattern - no lace, no cables - a semicircle shape with a ruffle. But the real beauty comes from the yarn, and to be precise, from a golden metallic thread that makes it shimmer in the light. Red and gold, two Christmas colors, make it a great accessory for the holiday season.

Za wcześnie na "Wesołych świąt" w tytule, ale właśnie tak brzmi nazwa tej chusty:) Wzór prosty, bez ażurów czy warkoczy, gładki, ale za to z falbanką. Półkole. Ale cały urok tej chusty bierze się z włóczki, a dokładnie z metalicznej nitki, która delikatnie połyskuje w świetle. Czerwień i złoto, dwa bożonarodzeniowe kolory - ta chusta do idealny dodatek do noszenia w święta.

La naranja

La naranja = an orange = pomarańcza.

Delicious fruit, awesome color. New scarf, new pattern. Stitch found in a book with Japanese knitting patterns.

Update part 3 - power to the stripes!

I love these one-skein projects. The recipe is simple - find a nice, variegated yarn (this is a blend of 40% mohair and 60% acrylic), light, so there are about 500 meters in a skein. Cast on and just knit, and when you start running out of material, figure out the edge. I love wearing such shawls, too. They are perfect, especially when you wear them cowboy style (ladies, these are the best to protect you from the cold, especially when you wear some sort of low-cut neckline or V-line jacket).

Uwielbiam te jednomotkowe projekty. Przepis jest prosty - znaleźć fajną kolorową włóczkę (tutaj mieszanka moheru z akrylem 40%-60%), lekką, taką żeby w 100 g było minimum 500 metrów. Nabrać oczka i zacząć dziergać, a jak motek mocno zmaleje, to wymiślić jakieś fajne wykończenie. Uwielbiam też nosić takie chusty, zwłaszcza w stylu kowbojskim. Drogie panie, to jest doskonały sposób na ochronę dekoltu przed chłodem!

Fall is in the air

Here's a very autumnal shawl, hand-knitted from a nice blend of mohair and acrylic. You may recognize the stitch, it's classic feather and fan - great for variegated yarn, because it form great wavy pattern. The colors in this one are truly autumnal: rusty reds and oranges, muted greens, teal, different shades of golden browns - just like leaves in September. I like the result very much. The shawl is two meters long and 43 cm wide, it can be worn as a regular, cozy scarf or as a wrap over the shoulders.

Oto bardzo jesienny szal, wydziergany ręcznie z miłej mieszanki moheru i akrylu. Wzrór znany: klasyczny feather and fan, świetny przy cieniowanych włóczkach, bo wtedy dobrze widać na nim fale. Szal jest w typowo jesiennych kolorach: rudych brązach, słumionych zieleniach z odrobiną petrolu - zupełnie jak liście we wrześniu. Bardzo mi się podoba, co z tego wyszło. Szal ma dwa metry długości i 43 cm szerokości. Dobrze się spisze jako szalik XL albo chusta na ramiona (zanim zrobi się zupełnie zimno).
